Intelliskin Posture Enhancing Apparel
When attending Sports Physiotherapy Conferences, there is usually a room of kiosks set-up for therapists to explore new products. Typically, this experience resembles a brisk walk while quickly glancing at the various displays. Occasionally, something catches my eye and lures me in. This is exactly what happened while attending the Team Concept Conference in Las Vegas this past December. That product was Intelliskin.
If you are familiar with core shorts, then this product parallels core shorts, except that it is for the upper body. It is a compression shirt that mimics healthy muscles and provides postural feedback. It stimulates the nerve endings in your skin to relax overused tight muscles while toning and supporting postural muscles that are weakened and lengthened.
Personally, I have worn the shirt while cycling and feel the subtle reminder to pull my shoulder blades back and minimize the rounding of my mid back. Additionally, my neck felt less discomfort after the ride than it typically would. Beyond athletic endeavors, if I have administrative work to do, Intelliskin again gives me the subtle postural reminders I need to prevent slouching. It supports me in a more upright position and helps reduce the onset of muscle fatigue. Now and then, my shoulder aches after work, and Intelliskin helps relieve the ache.
The more I think about who would benefit from this product, the more people I add to the list. We would all benefit from improved postural control while at work, at rest, and during our sporting activities. I have provided some colleagues with trial shirts, and so far the feedback has been excellent!
